This area covers Mendoza, San Juan, La Rioja and Cordoba Provinces.
Mendoza City is the Capital City of the homonymous province and the most important city of the west of Argentina. It is situated at the foot of The Andes and is an incredible oasis to grow fruits and vegetables due to the presence of Mendoza and Tunuyan Rivers. It is one of the most chosen tourist destinations because of the various interesting activities available in the region.
The climate of the region is mild though the mountains provide certain degree of aridity. The very well-known "Ruta de los Vinos" (Route of the Wines) deserves a special mention because the tourist can visit ancient cellars and taste excellent wines which are product of carefully chosen grapes. When you are visiting Mendoza, you are in "the land of the good sun and the good wine".
Towards north, there are San Juan and La Rioja, the provinces where Ischigualasto Provincial Park (best known asMOON VALLEY) and Talampaya National Park, declared World Natural Heritage by UNESCO, are located.
